A Review of SGD's 'Underwater Adventure'

A few days ago; a game developer that prefers to present himself as 'SGD' (which stands for Secret Game Developer) published the full version of his product that is titled 'Underwater Adventure', which is made on RPG Maker.

You might think like: "Well; how can a free game made on a simple game-making software by a guy that we have never heard of and lacks corporate identity be good and enjoyable enough especially in comparison to that of Foxeye?". But you'll be moritified!  Despite the fact that it is non-paid; the quality of the game seems to match the general standards that would be enough for it to be put on sale for a decent price under the section of RPG maker-made games on Steam. This mysterious developer obviously has mastered this software and knows how to do an above average job with his skills.

So; what's inside the game? I'll start with the plot; the game which is set in the future time of 2025; starts with a bunch of scientists evacuating a place that is destined to be flooded due to heavy rain. Then a few years after that; we're introduced to the main character who is named Aya, waking up from a bad dream of drowning. Then she meets her friend Julia to go to the lake. After an intense breath-holding contest underwater; Aya discovers a secret ladder, and decides to see where it leads to by herself, which kicks off the start of our adventure.

When it comes to the music; the main theme makes you fired up. It's an instrumental song called 'Truth' by Japanese jazz fusion band 'T-Square'. With a quick search; I learned that the song was used as a theme for Formula 1. Combined with the fact that Aya's inspiration is a legendary F1 racer from Brazil named Ayrton Senna, (he'll also be re-mentioned in the game with an inspirational quote of him following a swimming race) who lost his live in an accident during the race, we can see that the developer is a very big fan of Formula 1, and it also reflects how Senna is much admired in his country.

There's more than enough stuff to satisfy a true Anime-aquaphilic. Like Foxeye games; it definitey count as a precious treasure for our community! the game includes perils, breath-holding competitions, kiss of life with a nice plot. It's length is decent, and there's even a quite rich extra part that you'll be really disappointed if you miss out! so; you have to complete the game with 100 points or you'll only have seen like %80 of the game.

The extra part is composed of various sketches such as breath-holding contest with timing, underwater fight, ninjas in underwater bamboo-breathing training, Aya and Julia doing their cosplay show of the fictional Anime series mentioned in the beginning of the game, getting stuck between exchanges of gunfires, Street Fighter references, special pictures and some more entertaining stuff! plus; you'll get to figure out how long each character can hold her breath along with different speech scripts that pop up at their limit! can Bruna, the second-placer in the swimming race hold her breath longer than Aya?

As I conclude my review of this great game; I'll once again appreciate the developer for contributing to our community this treasure. He can become a big developer as he aims to be one day! he's got the talent for that!

So; here's how you can play. First download this software to run the game:
